Training pains and woes and a buff racer chick
Training for me is coming along but I'm babying my shoulder recently. Several other participants are also complaining of aches and pains. This is the tough part of the training - wondering if you can, afterall do it. "Am I crazy?" is often the starting place for my discussions with other member of Team Walk N Roll.
On race day it all pays off. Send some positive thoughts that all of us overcome our training pains and finish strong. On another note, I'm thrilled to show you the Team Walk N Roll Tee shirt. It's been called "girlie" My answer is no one would think twice if there was a guy on the front. I hope you'll wear it proudly. You can make up a story about the buff racer chick. I do. I claim to be the model! One look tells my lie. LOL CBS 5 News Story with Catherine Anaya

Catherine was AMAZING! I am proud to know her. Annnnd we're off!
This is our second year raising funds for spinal cord injury research. I was paralyzed nearly 5 years ago and I've learned a couple of very important lessons: 1 NEVER EVER give up; 2 don't ask anyone to help if you're not helping yourself.
Last year looked impossible at the start but I finished in 3:43:16!! All that with 50 pounds of wheelchair under me. I learned a lot about life and about myself during training and especially on race day. This year, I have an EVEN bigger goal... well, a couple of them. I hope to raise even more money than last year and I plan to cross the finish line on my feet. I've recovered trace movement that are very encouraging. I get my leg braces next week and then the really hard work begins of developing the strength, balance and skill to use them. Two steps... just 2 steps, that's my goal. Two steps over the finish line but 2 giant steps more than I've taken in the last 5 years. Here we go! |
